GAME STORYLINES
- Millersville returns to the PSAC Championship for the first time since 2023, marking the program’s fifth appearance in the last seven years. The Marauders will face Western Division top seed Gannon University, currently ranked No. 14 nationally. The two programs have met twice before in the PSAC title match—in 2019 and 2021—with Millersville winning both contests.
- The Marauders enter Sunday’s match after a hard-fought double-overtime victory over Bloomsburg. Captain Zander Leik delivered the game-winning goal with just 25 seconds remaining, finishing a well-placed pass from Louis Wright. Earlier in the contest, Leik also assisted on Matias Schmidt’s opening goal and added Millersville’s second goal early in the second half.
- Several additional Marauders played key roles in Friday night’s win. Midfielders Roy Parkyn and Louis Wright anchored play in the center of the pitch while creating numerous offensive chances. Brian O’Neill, Juan Ortiz, and Mason Quinton also contributed with strong distribution and ball control, helping Millersville maintain tempo and generate movement in the attacking third.
- On the defensive end, goalkeeper Gavin Massimi tallied three saves while conceding two goals, one of which came on a penalty kick. The back line—featuring Kehmar Green, Nolan McCarty, Fallou Cisse, and Haven Thomas—was instrumental in limiting Bloomsburg’s shot opportunities and sustaining Millersville’s defensive structure throughout the match.
- Gannon advances to the PSAC Championship for the second consecutive year after falling 2–1 to Bloomsburg in last season’s final. The Golden Knights have reached the conference title match multiple times but have yet to secure a championship, making Sunday’s home-field opportunity especially significant.
- Offensively, Gannon is powered by Sverre Orten, who leads the team with 15 goals and 12 assists. He is followed by Rafa Hyde with 10 goals and nine assists, while Enzo Rekka adds nine goals and 11 assists. The Golden Knights also feature seven additional players with at least two goals this season, giving them a deep and versatile scoring threat across the field.
- In goal, redshirt junior Andre Moraes has anchored Gannon’s defense. He has made 12 appearances, recording 31 saves while allowing 11 goals. Moraes enters the championship match with a 9-1-2 record, including a win over West Chester in Friday’s semifinal.
- Millersville aims to capture its sixth PSAC title on Sunday afternoon, while Gannon seeks its first. The PSAC Championship is scheduled to kick off at 1 p.m. in Erie, Pennsylvania.
SERIES HISTORY
- Millersville and Gannon first met in 2009, when the Marauders secured a 3–2 victory in the inaugural matchup. Since then, Millersville holds an 8-8-1 record against the Golden Knights, with the lone draw coming in the NCAA Tournament, where the Marauders advanced after winning in penalty kicks. Their most recent meeting also came in the NCAA Tournament, with Gannon earning a 2-1 win.
