SCRANTON, Pa. - The Millersville men's soccer team was unable to secure a victory Saturday afternoon, settling for a scoreless draw against Lackawanna College.
The Marauders featured a different lineup Saturday, with several role players receiving the opportunity to compete in the non-conference matchup.
Brian O'Neill led Millersville with five shots, including two on goal, after coming off the bench. Juan Ortiz Escobar and Matias Schmidt were also notable contributors, as the Marauders outshot the Falcons, 16-7.
Millersville generated multiple opportunities from corner kicks throughout the match, earning nine total and seven in the second half. However, the Marauders were unable to capitalize on their chances and find the back of the net.
Logan Kratz returned to the net for Millersville, recording three saves on seven shots in his second start as a Marauder.
"We were looking to rest some guys and mainly recover some injury concerns while providing experience and opportunities to other players," said head coach Steve Widdowson. "Today was disappointing, though, as we did not see the intent and impact you would expect from players getting those opportunities. We lacked quality in important areas and showed a lack of communication and killer instinct. The only thing we can hope is that at least experience was gained that will be of use in future games."
Millersville will complete its road stand Wednesday when it returns home to welcome West Chester for a game under the lights.
