Marauders strike four times in shutout of Georgian Court

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. - The Millersville University men's soccer team delighted fans with a decisive 4-0 victory over Georgian Court on Wednesday. The Marauders scored three times in the first half and finished with a 14-6 shot advantage, including 9-3 on goal.
The Marauders turned that volume into four goals while Georgian Court was held without one. Gavin Massimi and Kieran Finegan combined for three saves in the shutout, and Millersville also generated three assists among its four goals.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Marauders scored the only three goals of the first half, starting with Louis Wright's finish off Roy Parkyn's assist at 16:53. Parkyn scored at 21:08, and Matias Schmidt converted Juan Ortiz Escobar's assist at 27:26 as Millersville moved ahead 3-0. The Marauders also earned three corner kicks between 19:55 and 24:35 while keeping Georgian Court scoreless through halftime.
Millersville added to its cushion 1:42 into the second half, as Ortiz Escobar scored off Brian ONeill's assist to make it 4-0. The Marauders kept pressure on with five corner kicks in the half, while Massimi and Finegan each made a save to keep Georgian Court off the board. The 1-0 second-half margin closed out Millersville's 4-0 win.
"I thought we showed that we learned our lessons from Saturday and played much more positively and with good intent." said head coach Steve Widdowson. "The movement was good and I thought our defending was also better. Overall it was a very satisfying non-conference result. We now need to follow it up as we return to PSAC play on Saturday."
