MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The Millersville University softball team lost to Bloomsburg in a Tuesday sweep at Seaber Softball Stadium. The Huskies earned a 4-2 win before winning 9-0 in game two behind a nine-run top of the second inning.
The Marauders drop to 18-23 with doubleheaders against division opponents West Chester and East Stroudsburg coming up. With the sweep, the Huskies improve to 18-13.
Millersville totaled five hits in the doubleheader with Caityln Pinchorski earning her first start of her Millersville career in game one and then adding her first collegiate hit in game two.
Devan Masciulli had the only RBI of the day for the Marauders.
GAME ONE RECAP (BLOOMSBURG 4, MILLERSVILLE 2)
• Bloomsburg took the lead in the top of the second on an Alexa Erney two-run home run.
• The teams were scoreless for the next three innings until Masciulli punched a single through the middle, scoring
Alexis Jenkins. A wild pitch scored Pinchorski from second, tying the game at 2-2.
• But in the next half inning, the Huskies answered with their own two-run inning in the top of the sixth. Bloomsburg's Abby Wild shut down the Marauders' bats after that, not allowing a hit and earning the win.
• Masciulli and
Catherine Johnson had one hit each.
• Johnson threw six innings in which she allowed 10 hits, four runs and struck out three batters.
Emma Bevard finished the game in the last inning.
GAME TWO RECAP (BLOOMSBURG 9, MILLERSVILLE 0)
• The Huskies took control early with a nine-run top of the second. The nine runs came on a total of two hits. Millersville walked five, hit a batter and committed an error.
• Tara Baney totaled five strikeouts and three hits allowed.
• Millersville used a total of four pitchers in game two and gave up just two hits but walked eight.
