GAME 1: 4-2 (VILLE)
Millersville opened the scoring in game one with a sacrifice fly by Lexi Pickett, bringing home Jocelyn Langer from third after Langer led off the inning with a triple.
Holy Family responded in the top of the second, scoring two runs. Two hits and two errors contributed to the damage as they took a 2-1 lead.
The Marauders regained the lead in the fourth inning when Carly Vaughan led off with a double. Hailey Watlington followed with a two-run home run to give Millersville a 3-2 advantage.
Millersville added another run in the fifth inning as Jiana Maniscalco scored on a single by Langer, extending the lead to 4-2.
Delaney Troxell earned her 15th win of the season, recording four strikeouts. Langer and Watlington led the offense with two hits apiece and combined for three RBIs.
"It's really motivating because it shows we're not relying on just one or two players to carry us." said head coach Jen Probst. "When everyone is contributing, it creates a lot of energy in the dugout and puts constant pressure on the opponent."
GAME 2: 6-5 (VILLE)
Holy Family struck first in game two, scoring on a sacrifice fly. Millersville quickly responded in the bottom of the first with back-to-back doubles by Langer and Watlington to tie the game. Pickett then gave Millersville the lead with a two-run home run, making it 3-1 after one inning.
The Tigers tied the game in the third inning, capitalizing on a pair of errors to score two runs. Millersville answered in the bottom half with consecutive doubles from Vaughan and Cecilia McBeth to regain the lead. An additional single by Maniscalco brought McBeth home, extending the lead to 6-3.
Holy Family added two runs in the fifth inning on three hits, cutting the deficit to 6-5. Freshman Jordyn Skarren worked out of a bases-loaded situation to preserve the lead.
Rebecca Opperman closed out both games for the Marauders and recorded the save in game two, allowing just one hit over the final two innings. Ava Nelson earned the win.
"Rebecca's consistency over her last few outings has been huge for us." said Probst. "She's attacking hitters, staying composed in big moments, and executing her pitches when it matters most. That's given us a lot of confidence to put the ball in her hands late in games, knowing she can handle the pressure and finish things out."
Offensively, the Marauders were led by Langer, Pickett, Vaughan, and Maniscalco, who each recorded two hits. Millersville returns to action on Sunday at 1 p.m. for a doubleheader at Shippensburg to begin the final week of the regular season.
