GAME OVERVIEW
• After a dominating 6-0 victory over Pitt-Johnstown Wednesday, Millersville welcomes nationally-ranked PSAC oppenent Gannon to Pucillo Field Saturday. The Marauders have scored three or more goals in their last three games.
• Against Pitt-Johnstown, Millersville threatened early with a pair of shots from Chase Flickinger but could not convert. After the Mountain Cats clanked a ball off the post, Nathan Delgado set up Jaxson Burns for the first goal of the game. In the 34th, Oliver Calvo found teammate Omar Guzman on the right side of the box who ripped it far post for a two goal lead at the break.
• Guzman scored again just six minutes into the second half before Jeramey Robbins scored a pair of goals of his own to give Millersville a commanding five-goal lead. Jacob Gosselin would add a sixth goal late as Millersville blanked Pitt-Johnstown without allowing a shot on goal.
ABOUT THE SERIES
• Millersville holds a 4-3 edge in the series against Gannon, winning the last matchup by the score 5-0. Millersville and Gannon first squared off in 2009 and the Marauders edged out the Golden Knights, 3-2.
THE LAST MEETING: MILLERSVILLE 5, GANNON 0 (Sep. 26, 2015)
• Much like Wednesday's game against Pitt-Johnstown, the 2015 matchup between the Golden Knights and the Marauders was one-sided. Jaime Vazquez got Millersville on the board in the 23rd and Christopher Sosa set up Jaxson Burns for the second goal before the half.
• Vazquez would add a second goal in the 56th minute before Marcus Frangakis and Chase Flickinger tacked on two more to give Millersville a 5-0 road victory. Gannon managed four shots on goal, but Kohl Orner scooped them up with ease en route to victory.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
• Gannon enters Saturday's matchup with Millersville ranked 25th in the country, making the Marauders and Golden Knights the only two PSAC teams currently ranked in the top 25. The Golden Knights are coming off two overtime games. Gannon fell at Lock Haven 2-1 before picking up a 2-1 victory over the University of the District of Columbia.
• The Golden Knights tout a high-powered offense, averaging 19.1 shots per game and scoring 18 goals thus far. Gannon is lead by senior forward Hamza Mourchid who has scored an impressive 10 goals and registered two assists already. The Golden Knights have other contributors though, as four players have a pair goals including junior Sergio Kobowane who also has two assists.
• Gannon has used two goalkeepers to start this year in Jorge Hernandez and Manuel Mangu. Hernandez has totaled 10 saves while allowing seven goals in five starts while Mangu has 12 saves to just three goals appearing in three games in 2016.
