The Marauders posted the higher shot total, taking 16 attempts to Shepherd's seven, but Shepherd put six shots on goal while 'Ville put five on frame. The Marauders' shot volume included a four-shot, one-corner sequence, and Louis Wright scored off a Travis Hemphill assist as 'Ville pulled one back.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Marauders answered Shepherd's sixth-minute opener with immediate pressure, earning a corner before Nolan McCarty hit the right woodwork. Gavin Massimi made two first-half saves, but Josh Petty scored again in the 42nd minute for Shepherd, and 'Ville went into halftime down 2-0 despite late saved shots from Matias Schmidt and Roy Parkyn.

'Ville answered Shepherd's 53rd-minute goal less than two minutes later, with Wright scoring from Hemphill's assist in the 54th minute to make it 3-1. The Marauders continued to press with four shots and a corner, then added late attempts from Wright and Juan Ortiz Escobar. Shepherd and 'Ville each scored once in the second half, and Shepherd won 3-1.

"The thing that separated Shepherd was that they were better than us in every area of the game today." stated head coach Steve Widdowson. "They worked harder, they had much better quality and certainly more desire than us. Furthermore, Shepherd played with far more intelligence and commitment. There really was nothing to be happy about today from our perspective. However, it could end up being the best thing that happened to us with the lessons to be learn't from it. That part is now up to us and how we react from it."
