Millersville struck first against Alderson Broaddus when Megan Hallock slapped a single in the second inning that scored Raeann Buskey. The Marauders would add two runs to their lead in the third. Infielder Kelsey Campbell ripped a double that scored Megan McCurdy and Megan Snyder followed it up with a single that scored Brittany Smith.
The Battlers cut into the deficit in the fourth inning scoring a run on a fielders choice. In the bottom of the inning, leadoff hitter Heather Lutz worked her way on and ended up scoring on a wild pitch to put the Marauders up, 3-1. Alderson Broaddus mounted a comeback in the seventh, scoring four runs in the inning in which tied it up a six apiece. Once again, Millersville responded in the bottom half of the inning tying it up with Hammond scoring a run on a Jaynie Black grounder that was mishandled by the shortstop.
The Marauders would walk-off in the bottom of the eighth when Brittany Smith homered with McCurdy and Lutz on base. Smith finished 3-for-4 with a triple, homerun and four RBI's. Cassidy Pinchorski (3-2) picked up the win in the relief of Brianna Andraos who threw six innings and allowed eight hits with two earned runs.
Pinchorski threw a complete game in game two of the doubleheader against Ohio Valley at the Fast Pitch Dreams Spring Classic in Myrtle Beach. The sophomore scattered eight hits, across her seven innings of work allowing three runs and stricking out eight batters.
Millersville got off to the fast start with Brittany Smith picking up where she left off at the dish. Smith singled in Mandy Hammond in the bottom of the first. Ohio Valley pulled ahead with a 3-1 lead in the third when Alex Villazon tripled scoring three teammates.
The Marauders scored three runs of their own in the bottom of the fourth with the first coming when Jaynie Black reached safely on a error by the Fighting Scots shortstop. Heather Lutz earned a pair of RBI's moments later when she ripped a double.
Millersville added insurance runs in the fifth and sixth innings as Pinchorski used solid Millersville defense to coast to the 6-3 win.
The Marauders return to action tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. when they play Ohio Valley. Millersville caps off the doubleheader with a familiar PSAC foe in Clarion at 3:30 p.m.
