Millersville, Pennsylvania - After going down 2-0, Jaxson Burns tied the game at 2-2 before Dylan Fogerty scored the game-winning goal in overtime to defeat Shippensburg 3-2 on Tuesday. Despite giving up eight corner kicks, the Marauders outshot the Raiders 13-6 en route to victory.
Jaxson Burns looked to strike early for the Marauders with three shots in the first 15 minutes that were just wide. Shippensburg would get on the board in the 30th minute off a corner kick. Colten Arnold swung the ball in to a crowd of people and Patrick Luebben was able to get a foot on it an score the first goal of the game.
Millersville would earn a free kick just outside the box in the 43rd minute, but the wall for Shippensburg blocked Burns' shot and the Raiders took a 1-0 lead into half.
It took Shippensburg less than five minutes to double their lead as Isaiah Dorsey played the ball into Colten Arnold who finished. Millersville would catch a break minutes later when their pressure forced the ball to be played back into the Shippensburg half of the field where a defender attemted to clear it and sent it right into his own net to make the score 2-1.
In the 59th minute, the Marauders would earn a corner kick and Kyle Finsterbush sent a header just over the crossbar. Millersville would draw even in the 64th when Chase Flickinger played a ball in from the left that was deflected to Burns' feet and Burns drilled it home to even the score.
Both teams had opportunities to break the stalemate trading corner kicks, but regulation ended 2-2.
Less than two minutes into the first overtime period, Omar Guzman blew past a Shippensburg defender on the right side and crossed the ball in to a waiting Dylan Fogerty. Fogerty ripped the ball on frame and Matt Harder could not hold onto it as it rolled across the goal line and the Marauders were victorious 3-2.
The Marauders improve to 8-3-2 (5-2-2) on the season hit the road, traveling to Bloomfield to face the Bears Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
