Bloomfield - Christopher Sosa scored a penalty-kick goal and Omar Guzman registered his fourth goal of the season to lift Millersville to a 2-0 victory at Bloomfield Saturday. The Marauders outshot Bloomfield 10-7 and Darian McCauley totaled three saves as Millersville edged out the Bears.
The Cougars had the first chance of the game when Adrian Smart put the ball on frame but Darian McCauley scooped it up. The Marauders put the pressure on at the end of the half, earning a pair of corner kicks, the second of which resulted in a shot that was just high from Devin Rediker and the two sides went into the break tied 0-0.
Millersville looked to strike early in the second, registering two more corner kicks but were held scoreless. In the 67th minute, Nathan Delgado nearly broke the tie with a header that was pushed just wide.
Senior Christopher Sosa would get Millersville on the board in the 69th minute when he drilled a penalty kick to put the Marauders up 1-0. Minutes later, Kody Eberly nearly doubled the lead, ripping a shot that rang off the crossbar.
Omar Guzman subbed on in the 75th minute, and found the back of the net in the 76th. Guzman worked his way into space and ripped a shot that was deflected and beat the goalkeeper for Millersville's second goal of the game.
The Bears pulled one back in the 84th when Warwick Sterling found Jamar Leigh in the box and Leigh pushed the ball past McCauley to make the score 2-1. Millersville would not allow another scoring chance and took home the 2-1 victory.
