
Marauders Rule The Night Again

Salem, Va. — Playing for the second straight night, the Millersville softball team put forth another fantastic effort, this time using 14 hits to blast Charleston (W.Va.) 9-2 on Saturday.
The Marauders (16-10) vaulted to another first inning lead when Kelly Fitzgerald singled in Shaina Briel. The Golden Eagles evened things up when Brittany Lobell took MU starter Brittany Peterson deep in the bottom of the second.
Despite the home run, Peterson (5-1) pitched out of several jams and allowed just two earned runs on the evening. The freshman benefited from seven Millersville runs over the third and fourth innings.
Trisha Johnson, and Sam Jackson picked up RBIs in the third, while Casey Coker and Janelle Mrakovich drove in runs in a 3-run fourth for the Black and Gold. Fitzgerald, who finished the night 4-for-4, picked up an RBI in each inning.
In two games on Saturday, the Upper Darby, Pa. native was 5-for-8 with five RBIs. Fitzgerald moved into second on the team in RBIs with 17.
Charleston would get a run back in the fourth, but Millersville answered in the sixth when Mrakovich knocked in her second run of the night.
The Marauders outhit the Golden Eagles 14-12 and Lindsay Hosier, Coker, and Fitzgerald scored two runs apiece, as Millersville won for the 11th time in 12 games.
MU finishes off its trip to Salem, Va. on Sunday morning with a 9 a.m. match-up against Seton Hill.
