Gerard Wilcher brings to Millersville an extensive background with 30 years of collegiate and professional coaching experience. Wilcher was named the special teams coordinator and defensive backs coach before the 2025 season.Â
Wilcher has coached at every level of college football, including serving as the head coach at his alma mater, Morehouse College. Wilcher most recently served as an analyst at Division I Western Michigan. Before becoming a head coach, he spent five years as the cornerbacks coach at Rice University.
Wilcher spent more than a decade recruiting Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware and New Jersey. Before moving to Rice, Wilcher served as the defensive coordinator for Delaware State and Seton Hill and coached 10 years on the defensive side of the ball at Lehigh University--a tenure that included a stint as the defensive coordinator and four Patriot League championships.
Wilcher spent the summer of 2008 as an intern with the Philadelphia Eagles and also held a summer internship with the Arizona Cardinals and Chicago Bears. Additional coaching stops included Cornell, UMass, where he helped the team to an Atlantic 10 title, and Boston College. He coached in Division I bowl games in 2022 and 2024.Â
Wilcher earned a bachelor's degree in business administration with a concentration in finance from Morehouse in 1992.Â
