MILLERSVILLE, Pa. — The Millersville University women's volleyball team battled hard but ultimately fell to East Stroudsburg 3-0 on Saturday at Koehler Fieldhouse. The Marauders were held to 18 kills and a -.033 hitting percentage, while East Stroudsburg totaled 35 kills and hit .294.

The Marauders were held to 18 kills with 21 attack errors and a -.033 hitting percentage, while East Stroudsburg finished with 35 kills, 10 errors and a .294 mark. The serve game also favored East Stroudsburg, which recorded 12 aces to the Marauders' three. 'Ville did trim a five-point deficit to two during a second-set push, but East Stroudsburg held full-match advantages in digs, 44-33, and total blocks, 4-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Marauders fell behind 9-0 to open the first set before Alex Nava recorded the Marauders' first point on a kill from Addison Reustle. Nadia Sawyer added two kills, and Sam White and Marissa Storti also finished points, but East Stroudsburg kept the Marauders from closing the gap and took the set 25-7.

The Marauders' best response in the second set came after falling behind 6-1, as they cut the gap to 7-5 on a sequence capped by White's kill from Julia Chunta. East Stroudsburg answered by pushing the margin back to 10-5 and later moved from 14-8 to 21-8, and the Marauders could not close the gap. Hailey Lazur added two late kills for 'Ville, but East Stroudsburg took the set 25-10.

'Ville made its main push late in the third set, moving from a 22-15 deficit to 22-19 behind an Amanda Protzman service ace and two East Stroudsburg attack errors. Earlier, Storti helped the Marauders answer a larger gap with two kills during a four-point stretch that cut the score to 13-9. East Stroudsburg closed the set at 25-20.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

Reustle finished with 11 assists, seven digs and a service ace. Becca Hartranft collected a team-high 11 digs. Storti tied for the team lead with four kills and added a block assist. Sawyer also recorded four kills while hitting .167.
