'Ville women's tennis rolls to sweep of Seton Hill

GREENSBURG, Pa. - The Millersville women's tennis team's first dual under new head coach Eric Burns was a success, as the Marauders rolled to a 7-0 sweep.

Millersville took the three doubles matches while dropping just two games. Singles was just as one-sided as Millersville won by a 6-0 score in seven of 12 sets.

"Everyone performed well today," said Burns. "Our shot selection and thought process was solid all day. It was a really nice way to start the season."

In the No. 1 spot, Lauren Hayes cruised past Kaylee Kanuka, 6-0, 6-1. Haley Miller picked up a 6-3, 6-1 victory in the No. 2 spot. Mia Gassert won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3 singles, and Luci Consigliere won by the same score at No. 5 singles. No. 4 Annika Rojas and No. 6 Duda Coutinho Barreto both won by 6-0, 6-0 sweeps.

Hayes and Gassert teamed for a 6-0 sweep at No. 1 doubles. At No. 2 doubles, Miller and Rojas also won by a 6-0 score. Consigliere and Jade Miller polished off Millersville's sweep with a 6-1 win at No. 3 doubles.

Saturday's match was the first between Millersville and Seton Hill since 2019 and the first time that Millersville has played in Greensburg. Millersville leads the all-timea series 2-1.

Millersville's PSAC West road trip continues Sunday when the team visits California (Pa.).
