Biography

2013 (Game-by-Game): The team's best pitcher and arguably best player during her sophomore year, Bertoni had a marvelous second season...Went 15-10 in 25 games (24 starts) while breaking her own record for innings pitched in a season as she tossed 154.0 in 2013...Had eight total shutouts, including seven solo efforts...The 10 total career shutouts are a new program record for shutouts in a career, breaking the record held by 2006 graduate Emily Flieger...The 15 wins were also the most by one pitcher in a season in team history...Had a miniscule 1.41 ERA, the lowest by any Millersville pitcher since Laura Harris had a 1.27 ERA in 2002...Struck out 122 batters, 32 more than her previous best and allowed opponents to hit just .246 against her...Surrendered just two home runs in her 154.0 innings...Her first shutout of the year was a five-hitter with seven strikeouts in her second start on Mar. 13 against Chestnut Hill...Had back-to-back shutouts on March 16 and 17 against Salem Int'l. and Ohio Valley at the W.Va. Wesleyan Tournament, allowing just four hits and one walk in each start...Had another pair of back-to-back blankings on March 24 and 27 against Holy Family and at Goldey-Beacom, respectively...Allowed six hits and struck out six against the Tigers, and allowed just four hits with six punchouts against the Lightning...Shut out Philadelphia on just seven hits March 30...Combined with Kulp to record a no-hitter on April 4 at Lincoln (Pa.), hurling 3.0 innings with just one walk and fanning eight...Became the first pitcher in program history to be part of two different no-hitters...Had a career-best 11 strikeouts in a five-hit complete game win over Shippensburg on Apr. 6...Tossed her final shutout of the year at Kutztown on April 19, allowing four hits and one walk...Allowed two runs or less in 18 of her 25 appearances...Also had 18 hits at the plate, scoring 13 runs and driving in four...Had four multi-hit games, including going 3-for-4 against USciences on April 17...Won her second career PSAC East Pitcher of the Week award on April 8...Named PSAC Scholar-Athlete.

2012 (Game-by-Game): Bertoni shined at times in the circle during her first year at Millersville...Got the call to start in 24 of team's 48 games, tossing a total of 150.0 innings to lead the team in that category...Also led the team in strikeouts with 90 as well as complete games with 18...Tied for the team lead with three shutouts...Her highlights of the season came two starts apart from each other during the week of March 19-26...She threw a no-hitter against March 20 against Philadelphia University and a one-hitter March 23 against West Chester...Was named PSAC East Pitcher of the Week for the week of March 19...During that span, Bertoni made four starts, going 4-0 with a 1.03 ERA in 26.1 innings while striking out 13 and allowing just a .147 batting average against during the week.

High School: Two sport-athlete in softball and field hockey and won eight varsity letters...Led her team to the 2010 PIAA State Championship with a final team record of 22-1...Was a member of the All-PIAA First Team...Was the Wyoming Valley Conference Player of the Year in 2010 and her team's MVP in 2009, 2010 and 2011...Member of the National Honor Society.
