EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. — Jocelyn Langer extended her on-base streak to 44 games and the Marauders held early leads in both contests, but the No. 10 East Stroudsburg Warriors played true to their ranking and defeated Millersville by scores of 4–1 and 4–3.
Carly Vaughan tallied two hits and an RBI in game two while
Kendra Bumgardner had three base-knocks on the day in addition to an RBI and a run scored.
The visitors' best shot at upsetting the division-leading Warriors came in game two, where they found themselves up 3–1 going into the fifth inning. After allowing one run early, Millersville's starting pitcher
Delaney Troxell settled down over the next couple innings. The Marauders got on the board in the third inning thanks to a double by
Allyson Black and an RBI single from Vaughan a couple batters later. The next inning, Troxell would help herself with a foul out sac fly that scored Bumgardner before
Cameron Witte added another with an RBI single of her own.
That lead was short-lived, as the Warrior offense responded by scoring three runs in the fifth inning to take the decisive 4–3 advantage. Millersville had a chance to tie it up in the seventh, but the last out was made on basepaths after a single put two runners on with two out. In game one, the visitors manufactured a run in the top of the first but a four-run East Stroudsburg bottom of the first was too much to overcome against one of the most accomplished hurlers in the nation in Sarah Davenport.
The Marauders have now gone 6–21 over its last 27 games after starting the season 16–3. They've also now garnered the unique distinction of having a nine-game winning streak and a nine-game losing streak in the same year.
The 'Ville looks to bounce back when they return to action tomorrow, April 19 at Bloomsburg. Those games are scheduled to begin at 1 and 3 p.m.
