Millersville softball introduces 2024 newcomers

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. - Head coach Jen Probst and the Millersville University softball program has announced the addition of five incoming freshmen and a transfer who will join the team for the 2024 season. The class includes outfielder Cameron Witte, infielder Jiana Maniscalco, catcher Carly Vaughan, infielder and pitcher Angelina Edwards, pitcher and first baseman Kelsey Barks, and Nicolina Pezzone, a pitcher and outfielder from the University of Charleston.
"I am very excited to add these five to our roster," said Probst. "They give us depth across the field defensively, and they are also very strong academically. Each of them stood out during the recruiting process as they demonstrated high character and a willingness to buy in to program core values. I am looking forward to seeing their playing careers unfold."

Academic Interest: Accounting
Scouting Report: Witte was a three-year letterwinner for Waynesboro, and fits in with Millersville's power-hitting lineup as she led her conference in home runs. Witte graduated with distinguished honors in the top 5% of her class, boasting a 4.1 GPA.

Academic Interest: Allied Health/Sports Medicine
Scouting Report: Maniscalco won four varsity letters in softball and also lettered in indoor track and field. On the diamond, she was an all-conference and all-division first team selection and an All-New Jersey Group 4 Third Team pick. A member of the National Honor Society and Math Honor Society, Maniscalco graduated with a 4.2 GPA.

Scouting Report: A two-sport standout, Vaughan was a two-time all-county honoree in field hockey and softball. She was softball team captain for three years and a two-time team MVP. Scouting Report: A two-way player excelling in the circle and at the plate, Barks was a four-year varsity letterwinner and an all-county selection as a pitcher. She helped her Rising Sun team to a 2023 AA State Championship. Barks graduated with a 3.8 GPA.

Scouting Report: Pezzone transfers to Millersville after a season with a Charleston team that won 45 games. At Struthers High School, Pezzone was an All-Ohio First Team and All-NE8 First Team selection, leading the conference in hitting twice. She batted .558 as a junior and .557 as a senior. Pezzone totaled 109 career hits while striking out 378 batters as a pitcher. She received the OHSAA Award of Excellence. Pezzone played 18U travel ball for Central Ohio Pride 03 Gold, batting .463 with 205 strikeouts as a pitcher. A member of the National Honor Society and French Honor Society, Pezzone graduated high school with a 3.95 GPA. In her time at Charleston, she was a President's List student.
