MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The Millersville softball team dropped both games of Friday's doubleheader against Georgian Court. The Marauders fell 15-4 in game one, before falling in game two by a score of 9-3.
GAME ONE
- After two scoreless innings to begin the game, Georgian Court delivered a five-run third inning that consisted of an RBI double, two-RBI triple, and a two-run homerun.
- Aleese Angelo answered in the third with a two-run homer that scored Victoria Fuss, cutting the GCU lead to three.
- Georgian Court outscored Millersville 10-2 the rest of the way, resulting in the 15-4 loss. The remaining two 'Ville runs came in the sixth inning off a Gabi Turner RBI double and an RBI from Allyson Black.
- Alex Schaefer started the game and threw two and one-third innings. The junior allowed five hits and five runs, walked two batters and struck out three. Morgan Crutcher relieved Schaefer and threw three and one thirds innings, giving up five hits and four warned runs. Angelina Savarase threw an inning in relief and allowed five hits and five runs.
- The Marauders finished the game with two errors while GCU finished without one.
- Kendra Bumgardner, Angelo and Turner each had two hits in the loss. Angelo led the team with two RBI's.
GAME TWO
- Georgian Court opened the scoring in the first, jumping out to a 1-0 lead.
- The Lions would score two more runs in the second that extended their lead to three. However, Turner answered in the second with a solo shot to center field to cut the lead to two,
- GCU and 'Ville each scored two runs in the third inning, making the score 5-3. The Lions' runs came from a two-run homer, while the Marauders used RBI doubles from Aneglo and Sam Fried.
- Georgian Court outscored the Marauders 4-0 the rest of the way, resulting in the 9-3 loss.
- Kendra Bumgardner drew the start and pitched two innings. She allowed four hits and three runs while recording one strikeout. Crutcher relieved Bumgardner in the third and threw two innings herself, giving up six hits, six runs and striking out one batter. Schaefer ended the game, throwing three scoreless innings and striking out five Lion batters.
- Angelo led the Marauders with two hits and an RBI.
