Marauders make it three in a row with win over Staten Island

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Millersville softball team continued its strong play on Wednesday morning, scoring five runs in the first two innings and exploding for a five-run fifth to defeat College of Staten Island, 10-1. This marks the team's third consecutive game scoring 10 or more runs and extended the Marauders' winning streak to three games.
The second scheduled game of the day against Winona State was postponed with one out in the bottom of the third.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
The Marauders will be back in action tomorrow on Thursday, March 10 for a double-header. The first game is set to start at 10:15 a.m. against Salem, while first pitch for game two is set for 12:15 p.m. against Grand Valley State.
The second scheduled game of the day against Winona State was postponed with one out in the bottom of the third.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Kendra Bumgardner started play off with a base hit, which set up Hunter Little's third straight game with a homerun, giving 'Ville a 2-0 lead after one.
- The Marauders started second inning play off with two walks, courtesy of Alyssa Stover and Aleese Angelo. Next up for 'Ville was Gabi Turner, who came to the plate and blasted a three-run bomb over the fence to give the Marauders a 5-0 advantage through two innings played.
- Staten Island got on the board in the bottom of the fourth off a wild pitch, making the score 5-1 after four.
- After two scoreless innings the Marauder offense showed it had more in the tank entering the fifth. Gabby Vuocolo pinch hit for Gabby D'Ottavio and was walked, Stover then singled, setting up an Angelo base hit to drive in Vuocolo, giving 'Ville a 6-1 lead with no outs. Next up was Turner, who hit a sacrifice fly to send in another Marauder run, which was followed by a Bumgardner RBI double. Shortstop, Sam Fried rounded out the offense with a two-run bomb to give 'Ville its eventual 10-1 victory.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Turner and Bumgardner led the way two hits each, while Turner drove in a team-high four RBIs in the rout. Little and Fried followed with two RBIs each.
- Millersville recorded seven walks in the win, its third highest total this season. Little and Angelo led 'Ville with two walks each.
- The Marauders recorded tied their lowest strikeout total of the season with just three in the game.
- Mia Barone pitched 2.2 scoreless inning, while allowing just three hits and walking two batters. Angelina Saverase pitched one scoreless inning, while Breanna Clayton recorded the win after striking out three of her four batters faced in 1.1 innings pitched.
