Softball loses two to Shippensburg; Raiders walk-off in game two

Shippensburg, Pa. – Shippensburg University broke the Millersville University softball team's nine-game winning streak in game one when the Raiders won, 7-0. Macy Luck then hit a walk-off single to end the Marauders' day with a 5-4 loss in the bottom of the seventh of game two.
The Marauders and Shippensburg are now tied with the same conference record (8-6) with one day and two games left in the regular season. The teams are battling for the second seed in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Tournament. The Marauders need East Stroudsburg to sweep Shippensburg and Millersville to win one game over West Chester to get the second seed.
Freshman Allie Janowiak was the essential part of the Marauders hitting, going 2 for 3 in each game. Janowiak brought in two runs on the day.
GAME 1
Luck of Shippensburg hit two home runs in the game. Luck extended the Shippensburg lead with her second home run of the game in the bottom of the fifth inning that pushed the lead to 6-0. Luck's first home run of the game helped Shippensburg to strike first in the bottom of the second inning.
Janowiak had two of the three Marauder hits.
Senior pitcher Cassidy Pinchorski took her fifth loss of the season after giving up four walks and 11 hits. Shippensburg's Taryn Wilson shined in a 10-strikeout pitching performance in which she scored her fourth shutout of the season.
GAME 2
Millersville trailed 2-0 early but evened the score at 2-2 with Janowiak singles in the third and fifth. Raeann Buskey scored both runs. Millersville then grabbed a 4-2 lead on RBI singles from freshman Devan Masciulli and sophomore Rebecca Blatt.
The surging Raiders answered with a Micaela Ghanayem single up the middle, bringing in two and evening up the score at 4-4. Luck's walk-off single to left field scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh.
Junior Morgan Almodovar and Janowiak led Millersville by going 2 for 3.
Freshman pitcher Catherine Johnson pitched in 6 2/3 innings, giving up nine hits and three walks. Shippensburg's Taryn Wilson struck out five Marauders and allowed five hits in five innings. Wilson kept her winning going for her 16th win of the season.

The Marauders return home Saturday, April 28 for senior day and the final doubleheader of the regular season against West Chester. First pitch is at 1 p.m.
