No. 9 Millersville's unbeaten streak ends at seven games at Lock Haven

Lock Haven, Pa. -- No. 9 Millersville lost its first game of the season 1-0 against conference rival Lock Haven University Wednesday. Millersville's unbeaten streak ended at seven games while their winning streak ended at six games.
The Marauders started aggressively and recorded the first two shots of the game by the 15th minute. The Bald Eagles followed up with two responses of their own and forced sophomore Darian McCauley to save the first shot directed at him. The third time proved to be the charm for Lock Haven as their third shot recorded was the go-ahead goal for the Bald Eagles. Lock Haven took advantage of a defensive lapse and converted a two on one break away attempt at the far post in the 29th minute. Millersville attempted to equalize multiple times following the goal and forced the Lock Haven goalie to make a save before the end of the first half.
Millersville had more chances in the opening 17 minutes of the second half and forced more saves out of Lock Haven, but they could not score an equalizer. Junior Kyle Finsterbush registered one final shot for Millersville in the 84th minute, but it went wide of the goal. Lock Haven forced McCauley to make three saves in the waning minutes after Finsterbush's attempt. The score remained at 1-0 in Lock Haven's favor as time expired.
Millersville falls to 6-1-1 overall and 2-1-0 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference. Millersville earned more corner kicks (8-7), but Lock Haven out shot the Marauders 11-10 and 5-4 on goal.
The Marauders return home to try and improve their conference record against California (Pa.) Sept. 30 at 3:30 p.m. California (Pa.) currently ranks eighth in the conference standings.
