Qaisi's diving header in overtime tops ESU, extends winning streak to five

East Stroudsburg, Pa. -- Senior defender Ahmed Qaisi scored a diving header off a corner to complete No. 15 Millersville's 3-2 comeback victory in double overtime at East Stroudsburg Sunday night. Qaisi's walk off goal extended Millersville's unbeaten streak to seven games, winning streak to six games, and conference winning streak to two games.
In the 103rd minute, the Marauders leaned on their seniors. Kody Eberly curled his corner kick into the box and Qaisi dove forward to head it over the hands of the ESU keeper. The clutch play by the senior defenders capped off the comeback effort that began in the 50th minute.
ESU drew first blood in the 12th minute by guiding a cross from the left side into the back of the net. Millersville responded in the 40th minute as junior Dylan Fogerty blasted a long shot from the left side. Fogerty's shot was saved by the keeper, but he could not corral the rebound and senior Marcus Frangakis netted the equalizer.
ESU struck again early in the second half by guiding another cross from the left side into the goal. Millersville was left to shell the ESU goal for 37 minutes until they took a page out of ESU's book and earned their second equalizer of the game. Junior Jaxson Burns streaked up the left side and crossed his pass into the box where freshman Matteo Adiletta waited to tie the game.
With the game tied, Millersville took control of the game and held ESU to zero shot attempts while recording two shots in the first overtime. Millersville attempted two more shots before Qaisi's header ended the sudden death overtime.
The Marauders out shot the Warriors 15-11 and put six shots on goal over ESU's five while earning two more corner kicks. Frangakis scored his second goal of the season and has scored two goals in the last three games. Adiletta has scored in each of the last two games including the game winner against Seton Hill on Sep. 22. Qaisi's game winner was his first goal of the season as well as only his third goal scored in a Millersville kit.
The Marauders next defend their streak at conference rival Lock Haven University on Sep. 27 at 4 p.m. LHU is currently ranked fourth in the conference standings after starting the season 2-1-1 in the conference.
