Lock Haven, Pennsylvania - After taking a pair from Clarion Saturday, the Millersville softball team dropped two at Lock Haven Sunday. Cassidy Pinchorski tossed a three-hitter in game one but one pitch was sent over the wall for a two-run home run that gave the Bald Eagles a 2-1 victory. Lock Haven took the momentum into game two, jumping out to a 5-0 lead and staving off a Millersville comeback to win 5-2.
In the top of the fifth inning, Rebecca Blatt and Kaelyn Buskey recorded back-to-back hits and Maggie Murphy laced a pinch-hit single to break the tie and put the Marauders ahead 1-0. Pinchorski and Millersville took the 1-0 lead into the seventh where Faith Ceely reached base and was moved into scoring position with a bunt. Senior McKenna Garlock would capitalize on a pitch that was left up in the zone as she parked it for a walk-off home run.
The Bald Eagles wasted no time getting to Emma Bevard and the Marauders in game two when Becca Caputo doubled home a pair of runners to put Lock Haven ahead 2-0. Millersville could not get anything going and Lock Haven would strike again in the third as Megan Lindsey smacked a three-run inside the park home run to make the score 5-0 in favor of the Bald Eagles.
In the top of the fourth Heather Lutz, the program leader in career doubles, got Millersville on the board when she hit a solo shot to cut into the deficit. The rally was thwarted until the sixth when Raeann Buskey doubled to lead off the inning. Two batters later, Rebecca Blatt ripped a single that would plate Buskey and pull the Marauders to within three runs. The next batter was retired and Millersville was sat down in order in the seventh as Lock Haven locked up the Sunday sweep.
The Marauders have a quick turnaround, traveling to Philadelphia to face USciences on Tuesday.
