Millersville, Pennsylvania - The men's soccer team scored six goals in its shutout victory against Pitt-Johnstown Wednesday. Omar Guzman and Jeramey Robbins both had a pair of goals while Jaxson Burns and Jacob Gosselin each notched their third goals of the season in the Marauders' 6-0 win. Millersville out-shot Pitt-Johnstown 25-4 and did not allow a single Mountain Cat shot to reach goalkeeper Darian McCauley.
Minutes into the game, Millersville earned a free kick just outside the box. Marcus Frangakis placed it in the top corner but Nate Claya tipped it over for a corner kick. Shortly after, Nathan Delgado swung the ball to Andre Kin who touched it to Jaxson Burns at the six but Claya saved it again. Frangakis had another chance 15 minutes in, and once again Claya pushed the dipping ball over the crossbar.
Pitt Johnstown threatened in the 18th minute as a ball was played behind the back line but the defense recovered and blocked the shot. Minutes later, Colin Michalski took a ball and ripped it off the right post.
Millersville would get on the scoreboard first when Jaxson Burns stole the ball and played to Delgado and flicked it back to Burns who pushed it past the keeper to put the Marauders ahead 1-0. With 11 minutes left in the first, Oliver Calvo played a ball to the right side of the box where Omar Guzman took one touch and fired it far post to give Millersville a two-goal lead which they would take into half.
It didn't take long for the Marauders to add to their lead as Chase Flickinger swung the ball to the right side of the box where Guzman once again finished in the 51st minute. Millersville continued to press and in the 66th minute, Jacob Gosselin dribbled up the right side and played the ball to Jeramey Robbins who one-touched it from the six for the fourth goal of the game.
Robbins connected for his second goal of the season in the 70th minute when Kody Eberly dribbled in the box from the left side and played it to Robbins who again found the back of the net to give Millersville a 5-0 lead. Millersville would add one more with four minutes to play as the freshman duo of Ethan Woods and Jacob Gosselin connected for the sixth goal of the game.
The Marauders improve to 5-1-1 (3-0-1 PSAC) on the season and remain home, hosting Gannon University Saturday at 1 p.m.
