Softball Sweeps Day Seven Action in Florida

Clermont, Fla. - The Millersville softball team received two great outings from Brianna Andraos in game one and Cassidy Pinchorski for the nightcap to pull in wins over Mercy and Lees-McRae by scores of 2-1 and 7-1 (five innings), respectively. Game two went only five innings because of weather conditions.
After being shutout in two games on Tuesday, the Marauders got just the run support they needed the following day and earned a pair of victories to get back over .500 at 7-6. The Mavericks fell to 0-8 on the 2015 season while the Bobcats, who already lost to Millersville earlier in the Florida trip, fell to 3-17.
A box score was not readily available for the first game of the day but Andraos improved to 3-3 with the win.
In game two, The Marauders jumped all over Lees-McRae in the early going and scored all seven of their runs in the top of the first. Jordan Sheffield opened things up with a single to center and moved to second on yet another sacrifice bunt from Danielle DiFilippo. After Sheffield advanced on a wild pitch, Brittany Smith went yard and the bomb over the center field fence set the tone early.
Then, Heather Lutz walked with one out, Maria Spinosa singled and Stephanie Kulp was hit by a pitch to load up the bags for Megan McCurdy. The freshman walked to score Lutz and in stepped Mandy Hammond. Hammond singled in Spinosa before Sheffield was back up and reached on an error by the pitcher that allowed Kulp to cross the dish. Runs six and seven came when DiFilippo brought in Hammond and McCurdy on a two-run single to center.
The Bobcats scored their lone run on an RBI single to center in the bottom of the second but that was all Pinchorski surrendered as the freshman turned in yet another solid outing. Pinchorski (4-3) gave up just one earned run on three hits while striking out four batters and walking none.
Millersville is off on Thursday before playing its two final games in Clermont on Friday against Charleston (5 p.m.) and Slippery Rock (7 p.m.).
