THE STARTING FIVE
· After an 18-day hiatus over the holiday break the 17th-ranked Marauders return to the hardwood to host Merrimack for their eighth straight non-conference contest of the season. The last time Millersville hit the court was at the Carol Eckman Memorial Classic hosted by West Chester on Dec. 11 and 12. The Marauders swept their opponents over the weekend, defeating Bowie State 64-55 and Lincoln (Pa.) 68-47. Millersville has now won 12-straight games as participants in the tournament and holds an overall record of 6-1 this season.
· Head coach Mary Fleig enters today's game just one victory shy of a career total 500. Owner of the 10th most wins in Division II amongst active coaches prior to the start of the 2010-11 season, Fleig has compiled an overall record of 377-189 (.666) in her 21 year tenure with the Marauders. She sits 17th on the list of all-time Division II winningest coaches. When Fleig hits the 500-win milestone, she will become just the 15th coach in Division II history to accomplish the feat and the first in Millersville women's basketball history.
· Millersville continues to lead the conference in blocked shots for the fourth-straight week with 41 on the year and an average of 5.9 blocks per game. Sophomore forward Aurielle Mosley leads the PSAC with 19 blocked shots and an average of 2.7 per game. As a club the Marauders also rank second in the conference in offensive rebounds with an average of 19.3 per game and 135 total. Mosley ranks second individually with 75 and an average of 10.7 per game.
· The last time Millersville was on the court the club saw several firsts. In the contest against Lincoln Fleig emptied her bench and all but three players recorded a point. Getting back into the swing of things after missing the end of last season due to an ankle injury, junior guard Sophia Waters has been hot from the floor averaging a career-high eight points on the year. Waters is the only Marauder to put up double-digit numbers in each of the last three contests.
· Today marks the first match-up between Millersville and Merrimack, as well as head coaches Mary Fleig and Helen Williams.
