KUTZTOWN, Pa. --- Despite a blazing hot start from the field, the Marauders combined for a total of 28 points in their final three quarters. Millersville opened up the first quarter by hopping out to a 25-14 lead, shooting 47.1% from the field and 3 of 4 from beyond the arc. Carley Berk had a career quarter, ending with 10 points on 2 of 2 from three and four free throws.
With both teams fighting for playoff seeding, the Golden Bears did not back down after going down by nearly double-digits in the first quarter. They clawed back to cut the nine-point Marauder lead to just five points going into the half. At halftime, the Marauders still led 31-26. The Golden Bears' inefficient shooting kept the Marauders ahead, as they shot just 21.4% from the field.
The inefficient shooting did not last long, however, as the Golden Bears would come back from the half and run the Marauders out of the gym. Millersville conceded the lead while being outscored in the third 17-9, now giving the advantage to Kutztown.
Kutztown matched their third-quarter scoring in the fourth with another 17 points. The Marauders had just 10 points in the fourth quarter, resulting in a 60-52 loss.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Millersville had four scorers who accounted for 44 of the 52 Marauder points: Carley Berk (13), Daniella Ranieli (11), Bryn Zentner (11), and Gabby Bowes (9).
- Kelly Cleaver continued to assert her dominance in the paint with four blocks and one steal to push her season block total over 50 with 52 blocks on the season.
