
Four double-digit scorers prove not enough to top Huskies

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. --- Despite a balanced offensive effort that saw three players reach double figures, the Millersville University women's basketball team (12-14, 8-12 PSAC) was unable to overcome Bloomsburg University (14-12, on Saturday afternoon, falling to the Huskies in a pivotal Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division showdown.
The Marauders entered the contest looking to build momentum heading into the final week of the regular season. However, a surging Bloomsburg squad utilized a dominant shooting performance to pull away. While Millersville shot a great 45.5% from the field compared to Bloomsburg's 41.5%, the Huskies utilized a barrage of three-pointers and second-chance opportunities to maintain control. Bloomsburg connected on 11 shots from beyond the arc (47.8%) and dominated the offensive glass, pulling down 15 offensive rebounds, which led to a 22-4 advantage in second-chance points.
The Marauders fought back in the second quarter, led by Zentner's interior presence, to cut the deficit to nine by halftime. But, Bloomsburg could not miss in the opening half, shooting 55.7% from the field and a red-hot 58.6% from beyond the arc. Millersville continued to chip away, outscoring the Huskies in the second and third quarters combined, but the comeback attempt fell short.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Leading the way for Millersville was Bryn Zentner, who had tied her career high with 19 points, partnered with five rebounds and an assist.
- Joining her in double figures were Daniella Ranielli (15), Gabby Bowes (10), and Morgan Mahoney (10), all four combined for 54 of the Marauders' 67 points.
- Millersville outshot the Huskies from the field, but the Huskies hardly missed from three, shooting 47.8%
