Softball Drops Two on Thursday

Clermont, Fla. — A day after putting together its first winning streak of the season, the Millersville softball team fell to both West Virginia Wesleyan and Concordia (N.Y.) College on the final day of play at the National Training Center on Thursday.
The Marauders got on the board early against West Virginia Wesleyan, scoring in the first inning. Shaina Briel doubled and was then singled in by Janelle Mrakovich. The Bobcats, however, responded with a big second inning. With two down, Wesleyan scored six unearned runs to break the game open. The Bobcats went on to take the game 8-1.
Mrakovich took the loss, throwing 2.2 innings. Wesleyan got an outstanding pitching performance from Patricia Moreno, who struck out nine and allowed just two hits.
Concordia ripped 11 hits en route to its 6-2 victory over the Marauders. Courtney Eckman pitched 5.2 innings in taking the loss.
Casey Coker and Trisha Johnson both recorded multi-hit games, while Jill Golomboski and Ally Homa picked up an RBI each via bases-loaded walks.
The Marauders fell to 3-7 on the season and will now get ready to open their home schedule. The Black and Gold faces off with Philadelphia University on Monday afternoon. The doubleheader starts at 2:30 p.m.
