Justin Sykes joined the Millersville University softball program as an assistant coach prior to the 2024 season.
He comes to Millersville with a background in baseball and softball analytics. For the 2021-23 softball seasons, he was the Head Student Manager for the University of Missouri softball team. There, Sykes tracked pitching data as well as analyzed film to provide scouting and strategy insights to the team.
A native of Kearney, Missouri, he also worked as an intern for the Wassau Woodchucks of the Northwoods league in the summer of 2023. In the year prior, he was a Pitch Timings Intern at Inside Edge. Sykes used Inside Edge's timing system to measure the time it takes for pitchers to come to home plate or pick a runner off, as well as other incremental measurements. This data was then used by both Major and Minor League Baseball.Â
In May of 2023, Sykes graduated from the University of Missouri with a bachelor’s degree in Science, Parks, Recreation and Sport featuring an emphasis in Sports Management.
