ABOUT THE GAME

  • Since entering PSAC East play, the Marauders have been on fire winning three of their last three games against East opponents. Their strongest win came against East Stroudsburg who, coming into the game against the Marauders, were looking like one of the more dominant teams in the East. Their next game was a 69-64 win against Mansfield where Freshman guard, Daniella Ranieli, went off for 32 points and five steals to lift the Marauders to victory. Most recently, the Marauders had a huge 20-point win on Tuesday night against a hungry Shippensburg Red Raiders team thanks to three double-digit scorers. The Rams, who are currently on an eight game losing streak, have not had as much success in PSAC games. While the Marauders offer a “riding the hot hand” type of offense, the Rams are anchored by Lamaria Esteridge, who is currently averaging 17.2 points per game, and Kara Wehner who averages 12.2 PPG.

GAME STORYLINES

  • The Marauders are coming into this game on a three game winning streak with wins over East Stroudsburg, Mansfield, and Shippensburg. Millersville is getting hot at the right time and are looking to keep the heat going in this one. Shepherd has struggled this season hosting a 2-10 record, but with it being PSAC East play, no win comes easy.
  • Millersville averages 64.3 PPG and defensively concedes 66.2, which isn't a recipe for success, but that explains the 6-7 record on the season so far. In the last three games the Marauders are averaging 73.7 PPG and tightening up things defensively allowing just 63.0 on average.
  • Offensively, the Marauders have a variety of scorers and only one averaging double-digits in Daniella Ranieli, who just became the first player to score 32 or more points in regulation of a game in nearly six seasons.
  • The strongest point of the season so far for the Marauders has been their tenacity on the glass where they out rebound opponents 43.7 to 40.6.

SERIES HISTORY

  • Millersville and Shepherd meet for the 20th time in the all-time series, with the Marauders holding a 15–5 (.750) advantage against the Rams. Millersville has enjoyed consistent success across all settings in the matchup, posting a 7–2 record at home inside Pucillo Gymnasium and a 6–3 mark on the road, while also adding victories at neutral sites. The Marauders have won six straight games in the series and hold a 6-4 record in conference play. With momentum and history on its side, Millersville looks to continue its strong run against Shepherd and further extend its advantage in the long-standing series.
