MILLERSVILLE, Pa. - Millersville men's soccer is hitting its stride, securing a dominant 3-0 victory over Lock Haven.

The Marauders displayed consistent offensive pressure throughout the match, outshooting the Bald Eagles 14–9. Roy Parkyn delivered a standout performance, scoring two of the team's three goals, while Juan Ortiz added the third and final goal for Millersville. Goalkeeper Gavin Massimi recorded a clean sheet, making five saves during his time in net.

In the 14th minute, Millersville was awarded a throw-in that was delivered to the feet of freshman Alex Delavan, who drove toward the net and found Parkyn for an open shot that he powered into the back of the goal.

Parkyn struck again early in the second half, capitalizing on a deflection off a Lock Haven defender from a pass by Zander Leik to put Millersville ahead 2–0

In the 75th minute, freshman Juan Ortiz scored his first collegiate goal off a pass from sophomore Matias Schmidt, extending the Marauders' lead to 3–0 and putting the game out of reach for the Bald Eagles.

Millersville improved its record to 2–1–1 on the season and will host Wilmington next Wednesday at 7 p.m.

POSTGAME THROUGHTS FROM HEAD COACH STEVE WIDDOWSON

What do you credit to the team's overall performance today and how can the team continue to build off of this? "I thought it was a much improved performance today and I think that was a reflection of the training work we did this week. The team trained well and we brought that into both games this week. Today however, was a more rounded performance and that created a very solid result for us."
Could you talk about the offensive pressure throughout the game and the opportunities the boys created from it? "I think we were a lot more consistent and fluid in the attack today. Again, that was a reflection of training work but I think also the young players are growing in confidence and everyone is learning each other's tendencies and building connections. We can still improve, but it's slowly coming along."
Lastly, could you share your thoughts on the defense and the amount of shots they limited today? "Similar to the attack, the defense has been slowly developing and today was another step forward. I think their understanding and relationship is growing and with that comes understanding. They are improving their communication and efficiency and that is translating into a more cohesive back line. It is an overall team effort though on all sides of the ball, we showed great potential today."
