ABOUT THE GAMES

  • The Millersville Marauders (19–9, 3–5) welcome the No. 11 East Stroudsburg Warriors (23–5, 7–1) on Friday before hosting the Bloomsburg Huskies (14–6, 4–2) on Saturday as part of a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) back-to-back. East Stroudsburg enters having won nine of its last 10 games while the Huskies are coming off consecutive sweeps of Shippensburg and Mansfield.

SCOUTING THE MARAUDERS

  • After the program's best start to a season in recent history, the Marauders have cooled off upon entering PSAC competition. They started the season with a 16–4 record but began conference play by splitting each of their first three twin-bills before being swept on March 25 by Shippensburg.
  • Despite the recent struggles, a few players have kept on rolling. Atop that list is freshman outfielder Jocelyn Langer, who's gotten on base in 26 straight games dating back to February 26. She's leading the league in hitting with a .466 average and has a base hit in 24 of the last 26 games including each of the last seven. What's been impressive about Langer's rookie season thus far is that she continues to develop the rest of her game while hitting in the .400s. Her patience and ability to work an at-bat has resulted in five walks over the past four games, and she's begun putting her speed to work, with five stolen bases in five attempts over the last three games.
  • Fellow freshman outfielder Cara Mazzucco seems to have solidified her spot in the lineup with a productive March. She's gotten a base hit in 13 of her last 14 contests including an eight-game hitting streak between the eighth and the 21st of March. With that, she's raised her season average to .348, good for third on the team. Junior Hailey Watlington's also had a good few weeks, especially since entering conference play; she's batting .417 with a 1.045 OPS against PSAC opponents, both of which lead the team.
  • Second on the ‘Ville in average is Carly Vaughan at .355, who continues to get on base no matter the cost. The Marauders' catcher/third baseman leads the PSAC in hit by pitches with 10, more than double second-place's four. That's already matched the single-season program record held by Heather Lutz (who did it in 2015 and 2016) and Sam Fried (who did it last season). Even while being a bean-ball magnet, Vaughan's got five hits in the last three games and sports a season on-base percentage of .464.

SCOUTING THE WARRIORS

  • Over the past four seasons, East Stroudsburg has established itself as one of the premier teams not only in the PSAC, but in the country. The Warriors have been nationally ranked for the better part of the last three seasons and this year is no different, coming in at No. 11 in this week's National Fastpitch Coaches' Association (NFCA) Poll. That success has come as a result of multiple elite arms in the circle. It began with 2023 PSAC East Pitcher of the Year Paige Zigmund and continued with the emergence of then-freshman Sarah Davenport last season. She took home the conference's Pitcher of the Year award in 2024 and has continued her success into the 2025 campaign, having tossed three no-hitters and accumulated a .77 ERA thus far.
  • Davenport's tops in the conference in innings pitched (108.2, 30.2 more than second place), first in the entire country in strikeouts (174), and has won 16 games without a single loss. The most amazing thing is that she's not even first on her team in earned run average; that honor goes to senior Abbie Landrum, who's given up just three earned runs in 29 innings pitched for a mark of .72. The Warriors' reliever is having a breakout senior season and went four scoreless against Lock Haven on March 25.
  • In addition to the excellence in the circle, the Warriors' starting nine has experience and talent; they have five seniors in their starting lineup and three batters hitting over .400. Tatum Kresley leads the way with a .465 average and Abigail Weirich is second with a .418 mark. Rounding out that trio is Delaney Ridgell with a .405 average.
  • Another aspect of the game that East Stroudsburg excels at is base stealing; the Warriors have stolen 44 bags and have been caught just three times. That damage has been done by a quartet of players: Kresley has nine, Weirich has 19, freshman Tulana Mingin has eight and senior Taylor Lipkins has seven.

SCOUTING THE HUSKIES

  • Bloomsburg may not be nationally ranked like the Warriors, but the Huskies still pose a significant challenge like the rest of the conference. They've won their last four games and have been an offensive powerhouse thus far in 2025, especially in divisional play. Their PSAC slate began with a sweep at the hands of Shepherd and NFCA Division II Pitcher of the Week Madelayne Ruffner on March 21, but the bats have been on fire since then; they're averaging 10.5 runs a contest in the four games since. The Huskies obliterated the Raider staff that gave the Marauders troubles on Tuesday with 29 total runs across five-inning wins of 13–2 and 16–2.
  • Leading the charge are seniors Mia Nemeth and Emma Little, who are hitting .433 and .426, respectively. Nemeth's started all 20 games and ranks sixth in the PSAC in OPS at 1.185 while Little's missed one contest and is second in the conference in OPS with a 1.288. Little's power gives her the edge over Nemeth, having hit four homers to her four and eight doubles to her five. Another offensive threat is Bella Culp, who will be in the lineup on Saturday and has hit .403 as of publication.
  • Kelly Eberly is having a breakout senior season in the circle for the Huskies and is on pace to set a career low in ERA after pitching to a 1.95 over 32.1 innings thus far. Her previous career low was a 4.05 mark set in her freshman season. Outside of Eberly, Bloomsburg features two other strong arms in Callie Sowers (2.07 ERA in 54 innings) and Sarah Yamrick (2.97 ERA in 35.1 innings), who both pitched against the Marauders last season.
