ABOUT THE GAME
- The Marauders are sitting in third place in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) after picking up a victory in a tight match-up with Lock Haven on Wednesday. Millersville has won five straight games and will travel to East Stroudsburg on Saturday, Feb. 11, looking to keep the win streak alive. With the win over Lock Haven, Millersville is now 10-8 in the conference and sits behind West Chester and Shippensburg who have clinched their spot in the PSAC tournament. East Stroudsburg is in fifth place with a 9-9 record and dropped their most recent match-up to the Golden Rams. The Marauders defeated the Warriors earlier this season which created a three-game win streak over East Stroudsburg.
SCOUTING THE MARAUDERS
- In Millersville’s five game win streak, they held four opponents to scoring under 60 points which makes the Marauders 5-0 when limiting opponents to 50-59 points. Going 6-3 in road games, Millersville’s three losses have been from PSAC West opponents. Offensively, Millersville ranks eighth in the PSAC with a 68.5 average as they shoot .422 from the floor and .290 for three-pointers.
- Earlier this week, Taylor Langan was named the PSAC defensive player of the week, but Langan performs on both sides of the court as she is Millersville’s leading scorer. The graduate guard tallied her fifth consecutive game in double figures and also led the team in scoring. Makiah Shaw came up big for the Marauders against Lock Haven as she notched her sixth game this season with double digits. Shaw’s free throw shooting was crucial for Millersville as she went 8-for-10 from the line.
SCOUTING EAST STROUDSBURG
- Dropping their last matchup to the Golden Rams, East Stroudsburg was held to scoring 54 points, shooting 38.2% from the floor and making 4-of-17 shots from behind the arc. The Warriors’ defense ranks third in the PSAC as they hold opponents to an average of 58.1 points per game, but Millersville can capitalize on rebounds as East Stroudsburg gives up a 6.2 margin off the boards.
- The Warriors offensive leader, Ryan Weise, ranks first in the PSAC in three-point percentage as she shoots .427 from behind the arc. Weise’s scoring average (15.7 ppg) places her eighth in the conference with a .419 percentage from the floor. She also leads the Warriors in rebounds, assists, and steals.
