MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The Millersville University softball team (19-21, 7-5 PSAC) was swept by the now first-place Kutztown Golden Bears on Saturday afternoon as the Marauders overall record fell back behind .500 on the season.

Millersville fell 3-1 in extra innings in game one and dropped game two by a score of 9-4. The Marauders saw their seed in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East Standings drop three spots to No. 4, with Kutztown, Shippensburg, and Shepherd above them.

'Ville currently sits in a playoff spot with just four games remaining in their 2022 regular-season schedule.
HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME ONE: Kutztown 3 – Millersville 1 (Eight Innings)
- It was a two-run homerun in the top of the eighth from pinch hitter, Sarah Harvey that propelled the Golden Bears over the Marauders. Kutztown would add an insurance run later in the inning off a Kristin Geesey sacrifice fly to left field.
- Millersville's only successful attempt at a comeback came from Aleese Angelo, who sent a solo homerun over the center field fence in the bottom of the eighth, which would be the Marauders' lone run in game one.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Alex Schaefer pitched seven scoreless innings before giving up two runs in the eighth. The sophomore recorded seven strikeouts while only walking one batter, her record moved to 9-7 following the loss.
- Aleese Angelo recorded the only hit for Millersville.
GAME TWO: Kutztown 9, Millersville 4
- The Golden Bears saw the bulk of their nine-run performance come in the third and fourth innings, as they scored three in each to take a 6-0 lead over 'Ville.
- The Marauders would fight back in the fourth, scoring two runs to cut away at the Kutztown lead, both coming off a Gabi Turner and Hunter Little doubles to center field.
- Kutztown would score three additional runs during the fifth and sixth innings to bring the team's run total to nine. The Marauders would offer two in return, resulting in a 9-4 final score.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Crutcher fell to 8-9 in the loss.
- Kendra Bumgardner and Hunter Little led the Marauders with two hits and one RBI each.
- Kutztown outhit the Marauders, 14-8.
