MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The Millersville University softball team (18-16, 6-2 PSAC) split their doubleheader against the Lock Haven Bald Eagles on Saturday afternoon, winning game one by a final of 9-1 before falling 5-1 in game two.

Millersville blasted three home runs in game one as the offense opened the game with a 6-0 lead after three innings. Lock Haven would get on the board in the sixth, but an RBI double by
Gabi Turner in the bottom of the frame would end the game with Millersville picking up the mercy rule win in six innings.
Aleese Angelo recorded three hits in the game, falling a triple shy of the cycle, while driving in four runs.
In game two, the teams exchanged one run each in their half's of the first inning. Lock Haven would run away late, scoring three runs in the sixth to secure the split.
HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME ONE: Millersville 9 – Lock Haven 1 (Six Innings)
- Turner opened the scoring with a solo shot to left in the first.
- Marli Schreiner added to the lead with a solo home run of her own in the second. The homer happy Marauders weren't done there, as Angelo connected on a two-run blast to dead center, putting 'Ville ahead 4-0 after two.
- Schreiner connected on her second extra-base hit of the game as she roped an RBI double to left, plating Sam Fried. Pinch hitter Alyssa Stover drove in Schreiner with an RBI single, extending the lead to six. Angelo drove in her third run of the game as she connected on a single up the middle, putting the Marauders ahead 7-0 after three.
- In the sixth, Angelo came through again with her third run producing hit of the game, driving in Breanna Clayton for the third time. Her four RBIs were good for a new season high. Two batters later Turner would end the game with a walk off double, driving in Angelo and ending the game in mercy rule fashion.Â
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- This was the seventh mercy rule win of the season for the Marauders.
- Millersville outhit Lock Haven 13 to five.
- Alex Schaefer improved to 9-5 in the circle with the win. She recorded five strikeouts for the fourth time this season, two off her season high of seven.
- Angelo led the way for 'Ville with three hits and four runs driven in.
- Turner and Shreiner each drove in a pair of runs with two hits each. Clayton also recorded two hits, while scoring a team high three runs.
GAME TWO: Lock Haven 5 – Millersville 1
- Lock Haven took its first lead of the day in the top of the first, going ahead 1-0. Millersville would tie in the bottom of the frame on an RBI single from Gabby D'Ottavio.
- A run in the fourth and three in the sixth would be enough for the Bald Eagles, who held the Marauders scoreless for the final six innings of play.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Morgan Crutcher fell to 7-8 in the circle with the loss, allowing five runs (four earned) over her complete game effort.
- Lock Haven outhit Millersville nine to seven. D'Ottavio and Fried both recorded two hits for the Marauders.Â
OF NOTE
- The Marauders remain tied for first place in the PSAC East as Millersville and Kutztown have both gone 6-2 to open their conference schedules.
- The Marauders lead the conference in home runs with 41 and are third in doubles with 54.
- Turner is tied for second in the conference in home runs with nine. One behind the leader.
- Hunter Little leads the PSAC in walks with 33, putting her 11 ahead of the next closest batter. She is also fourth in the conference in OBP at .520.
- Angelo has a team high 10 doubles this season, two off the PSAC leader.
