Marauders look towards PSAC Indoor Championships
2/25/2022 12:26:00 PM | Women's Indoor Track and Field
EDINBORO, Pa. – The Millersville Marauders have had an impressive showing during the indoor track and field season, as the team will look to translate that performance into a strong finish the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Championships this Saturday and Sunday.
Millersville is coming off a ninth-place finish in the 2020 Championship after recording a program best fifth place finish in 2019.
The Marauders were ranked as high as No. 8 in the USTFCCCA Atlantic Region Poll this season and feature several standouts in the field events. Aliyah Striver, Darian Hauf, and Hannah Woelfling have each been named PSAC Indoor Field Athlete of the week throughout the season.
"I think we have a pretty strong contingent in the weight throw and I think they have bigger goals in mind too with their goal of getting to the NCAA meet… which is a nice luxury for the team to have," head coach Andy Young said.
Striver is the defending champion from the 2020 Indoor Championships as she was named Athlete of the Meet after winning the weight throw and shot put events.
Hauf, a state champion freshman from Maryland, holds the program record in the pole vault with a height of 12-6.
"I think just getting the experience of being at a championship is really important for her," Young said. "She also has her eyes on NCAAs so she'll probably have to jump 13 feet. I think in her mind she can do that… I'm excited to see what she can do."
Woelfling is fresh off her weekly honor and is the No. 1 seed in both the weight throw and shot put.
Millersville also brings consistency in the track events, as several Marauders are running at full speed heading into the meet.
YOUNG ON THE TRACK PARTICIPANTS
"Aurora Conrad in the 60 and 200 has been very consistent this season and every week seems to get a little bit better. Emma Elwell is really a Darkhorse for us, she did really well early in the season and her practices have been really good. De'Asia Holloman is another one where her practices have been really good. Abbey Sullivan in the 800 has been having some crazy workouts and we're excited to see what she does too, since her confidence has really come up. The one who has been having some of the strongest workouts in the distance group is Morgan Janiuk. I don't know what she's going to do but she has been running very well."
