Marauders claim several podium finishes in day one of indoor championships

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Millersville University women's track and field team opened competition at the 2025–26 PSAC Indoor Track and Field Championships at Lehigh University with a strong showing, highlighted by a first place finish and third place finish in the weight throw. After day one, the Marauders sit in sixth place with 22 total team points.
Millersville had two athletes compete in the pentathlon, with Ava Wilson finishing seventh overall with 3,034 points and Megan Hechler close behind in eighth with 3,032 points. Hechler led the pair in the 60-meter hurdles, placing third in 9.31 seconds, while Wilson followed in sixth at 9.34. Both tied for seventh in the high jump (4-10.5) alongside two other competitors. In the shot put, Hechler placed eighth with a throw of 27-7.25, and Wilson recorded a mark of 25-10.75. Wilson edged Hechler in the long jump, finishing 10th (15-7.75) to Hechler's 11th-place mark (15-2). The two closed out the pentathlon with impressive performances in the 800 meters, as Wilson claimed first in 2:29.89 and Hechler followed in second at 2:30.16.
Sarah Hessler delivered a championship performance in the weight throw, capturing first place with a mark of 59-0. Chloe Enck added to the team's success with a third-place finish, throwing 50-8.25. In the long jump, Olianna Oravitz narrowly missed a podium finish, placing ninth with a leap of 17-8.75.
The Marauders' distance medley relay team of Kira Chebishev, Mary Weiss, Bella Ruefle, and Bri Pollock secured sixth place in 12:23.62.
On the track, Oravitz and Aasly De Leon competed in the 60-meter dash preliminaries, just missing qualification for the finals. Oravitz finished 11th in 7.92 seconds, while De Leon placed 16th in 8.09. In the 60-meter hurdles prelims, Katelyn Murphy—entering as the No. 1 seed—finished first with a time of 8.84, narrowly missing her own school record of 8.81 set earlier this season.
Milan Snell placed 14th in the 200 meters (26.21), and Shelby Derkosh finished 10th in the 400 meters with a time of 1:00.11, both just outside qualifying positions.
The Marauders will return to action tomorrow in the high jump, shot put, mile, 60-meter hurdles final, 800 meters, 3,000 meters, and the 4x400-meter relay as they look to climb the team standings.
