Millersville's Striver wins season's first PSAC Field Athlete of the Week award

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - A year away from indoor competition has done nothing to slow Millersville's Aliyah Striver, who was named the 2021-22 season's first PSAC Indoor Track and Field Field Athlete of the Week Tuesday.
A national qualifier in the shot put and the PSAC Indoor Championships Field Athlete of the Meet in 2020, Striver returned to action at Saturday's Diplomat Open and posted NCAA qualifying marks in both the shot put and weight throw, handily winning both events. She bested her teammate, Hannah Woelfling by 3-4 1/4 in the weight throw, and topped Woelfling by 4-0 3/4 in the shot put.
Striver's 46-1 1/4 in the shot put ranks as the ninth-best toss in the NCAA this season, and her weight throw toss of 57-6 1/4 ranks 15th. Striver set a new personal best and moved into second place in Millersville history in the weight throw.
Striver previously won the PSAC's indoor field athlete of the week award three times during the 2019-20 season.
The Marauders take a break until Jan. 15 when they resume competition with another trip to Franklin & Marshall for the Coach I Open.
