Men's soccer battles East Stroudsburg to a draw

East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania - Despite taking a 2-0 lead into the second half, the Millersville men's soccer team tied East Stroudsburg 3-3 Tuesday. Jaxson Burns and Ethan Woods both netted a goal in the first half before the Warriors tied the game at two. Andrei Kin put the Marauders back in front but East Stroudsburg answered once again as the PSAC rivals ended the game in a draw.
Millersville looked to jump on the board first when Chase Flickinger and Jacob Gosselin both fired shots high within the first three minutes of the game. The Warriors tested Darian McCauley with a pair of shots before the Marauders would find the net in the 34th when Nathan Delgado dropped a ball over the top to Jaxson Burns and Burns placed the ball in the back of the net. Just a minute later, Ethan Woods took a ball that East Stroudsburg could not clear and fired it from the top of the box to give Millersville a two-goal advantage.
In the second, both Omar Guzman and Oliver Calvo looked to extend the Marauders lead, but Boerema racked up a pair of saves to keep the Warriors within two goals.The Warriors and Marauders traded chances before the break as Andrew McGinley hit the Millersville crossbar minutes before Burns sent a header on frame that was saved by Will Boerema.
In the 62nd minute, East Stroudsburg's Christian Bukowski beat McCauley from the top of the box to cut the lead in half. The Warriors kept the pressure on in the 67th by earning a penalty kick that Brandon Levano would convert to tie the game 2-2.
In the 75th minute, Kody Eberly and Devin Rediker connected to whip in a cross that Andrei Kin headed in for the go-ahead goal. The Warriors responded again when Bukowski fed Marcus Togersson who tied the score at three goals apiece. The defense of East Stroudsburg dug in, blocking three shots in the final minutes as the two teams ended regulation time deadlocked at 3-3.
In the first overtime, Bukowski pushed a shot wide, but neither team threatened otherwise. In the second overtime, both sides put shots on net, but McCauley and Boerema would come up with saves as the two teams ended in a draw.
With the tie, the Marauders go to 3-1-1 (1-0-1 PSAC) on the season and return home Saturday hosting PSAC-rival Slippery Rock at 1 p.m.
