Millersville, Pa. – Using its most efficient offensive performance of the season, the Millersville women's basketball team topped Pitt-Johnstown Sunday afternoon by a 72-50 score, extending its winning streak to four and winning for the seventh time in eight games.
The home game was Millersville's (8-4, 5-4 PSAC) first in nearly a month and the Marauders looked glad to be back in Pucillo Gymnasium. The Marauders roared to a 22-11 lead in the first quarter after hitting 11 of their first 15 shots. The Marauders set season-highs in field goal percentage (.483) and 3-point field goal shooting (.438). Shelby Reimer matched a season-high with 17 points and cashed a season-best five threes on nine attempts. A total of 12 Marauders found the scoring column.
The Marauders put some distance between themselves and the Mountain Cats in the final three minutes of the first quarter by ripping off an 8-1 run that included four points from Celeste Robinson. Millersville pushed the lead to 19 in the second quarter on a 3-pointer from Alex Stam. Then the Marauders opened the third quarter on a 12-2 run to push the advantage to 24—their largest of the game.
Reimer hit 4-of-6 from three in the second half. Robinson totaled 10 points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals in 21 minutes.
Millersville has held six of its last seven opponents to no more than 50 points and seven of the last eight have been held under 40 percent shooting.
The Marauders travel to Indiana (Pa.) on Jan. 6 for a 7:30 p.m. tip.
