LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The Millersville University women's basketball team was voted third in the annual PSAC Eastern Division Preseason Coaches' Poll. The Marauders received two first-place votes after upsetting No. 3 seed East Stroudsburg in the first round of last season's PSAC Women's Basketball Championship. Millersville enters the 2026-27 season with a new coaching staff led by head coach Jennifer Smith, along with assistants Kiera Baughman and Jenadia Jordan.
In 2025-26, the Marauders went 13-16 and 8-13 against the PSAC with Daniella Ranieli winning the PSAC East Freshman of the Year award along with being named to the All-PSAC East Second Team. Junior Kelly Cleaver, who was named the PSAC East Defensive Athlete of the Week twice, returns to the 'Ville alongside junior Bryn Zentner, who was named as the PSAC East Athlete of the Week once for her dominant performance in the CIAA/PSAC Conference Challenge last season. The Marauders graduated consistent starter Morgan Mahoney, along with seniors Jillian Crawford and Cydney Stanton, leaving holes in the lineup heading into the 2026-27 season.
Votes in the East were matched with East Stroudsburg and Kutztown picking up three first-place votes, while the Marauders picked up two. In the West, IUP received 78% of the votes with seven while Gannon received two.
The Marauders return most of their starting lineup and bench, including key players Ranieli, Zentner, Cleaver and Carley Berk. Holly Gohl and Gabby Bowes also return after seeing increased playing time late in the season. Smith added five newcomers to the roster, including transfers Mariah Shue, Arianna Seitz, Naomi Zulueta and Skylar Curley, along with true freshman Emerson Seitz.
The Marauders open the 2026-27 season on the road at Jefferson on Nov. 9 before competing in the Conference Challenge against the University of Charleston and Salem on Nov. 13-14. Millersville returns home to face Georgian Court on Nov. 21 before closing out November against Bowie State and Virginia State. The Marauders begin PSAC play with a road trip to California (Pa.) and Slippery Rock on Dec. 4-5. Key conference matchups include home games against Kutztown, Shippensburg, East Stroudsburg and West Chester as Millersville looks to earn a spot in the PSAC Tournament. The regular season concludes Feb. 27 at Mansfield, followed by the PSAC Tournament in March.
