Box Score
Millersville, Pa. – The Millersville men's soccer team was held to just two shots in the first half. East Stroudsburg broke the scoreless tie in the second half, but the Marauders found two answers to escape Saturday evening with a 2-1 victory at Chryst Field at Biemsderfer Stadium.
Millersville (3-0, 2-0 PSAC) controlled the ball for much of the first session but were unable to record any shots until late in the half. East Stroudsburg (1-3-1, 0-1-1 PSAC) kept the Marauders from finishing passes deep in the zone, forcing the ball to stay in the midfield for most of the side.
The Warriors found the twine first in the second half when Kevin Lombardo collected a pass from Nemanja Nikolic. Lombardo found himself with an empty net to give East Stroudsburg a 1-0 lead with 34 minutes to play.
Millersville found an answer less than two minutes later. Senior Eric Pepper hooked a corner attempt from the left side. The ball soared over the initial crowd of players and found junior Matt Kadoch. Kadoch headed the ball home to tie the score at 1-1.
In the 80th minute, Colby Zeger drilled one from 25 yards out along the left side. The ball hit the far post and found its way to Kadoch once again. Kadoch centered it into the box to find Pat Baffuto, who put it past the Warriors' goalkeeper for a 2-1 lead.
Head coach Steve Widdowson now holds a 7-3 record all-time against rival East Stroudsburg. The Warriors bested the Marauders twice a season ago.
Millersville returns to action Tuesday, Sept. 20 when it hosts Shippensburg. The game is slated for 4 p.m. The Marauder Sports Broadcasting Network (MSBN) will provide full coverage for fans to listen or watch live.
