Philadelphia, Pa. - Kelsey Waite and Elizabeth Wagner both won singles matches and combined for a doubles win, but it wasn't enough for the Marauders as they dropped a 6-3 score to Chestnut Hill Friday afternoon.
Waite and Wagner earned all three of Millersville's points. The Marauders dropped to 3-5, and Chestnut Hill, ranked No. 8 in the East Region, improved to 11-9.
Waite notched a 6-4, 6-0 win over Sarah Dohert at No. 5 singles. In the No. 6 slot, Wagner breezed past Regina Doherty by an 8-0 score to improve to 2-0 on the season. The duo toppled the Doherty's by an 8-1 score at No. 3 doubles.
Millersville also lost a pair of closely contested matches. Melissa Plowman was edged at No. 1 singles, 6-3, 4-6, 1-6. Shauna Powers fell 6-3, 1-6, 7-10 at No. 4 singles.
Millersville opens its PSAC Eastern Division schedule on March 29 against Cheyney. Action begins from McComsey Tennis Courts at 3 p.m.
