Women's tennis drops crucial PSAC match against Bloomsburg

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. - The Millersville University women's tennis team came up short in a must-win PSAC matchup against Bloomsburg University, despite strong efforts in both doubles and singles play. Lauren Hayes and Marian Hayes secured the Marauders' lone doubles victory, while M. Hayes and Mia Gassert each battled to earn singles wins.
The Hayes duo continued their strong play in doubles, grinding out a 6-3 victory at the top spot. Gassert and Annika Rojas dropped their match by a 6-3 score, while Luci Consigliere and Duda Coutinho Barreto fell 6-2.
Singles play featured several tightly contested matches, with three Marauders pushing into extra sets. M. Hayes and Gassert each showed resilience, bouncing back after dropping their second sets to secure hard-fought wins. Rojas forced a third set after a tight 7-6(6) second-set loss but narrowly fell in a 1(8)-0 tiebreak. L. Hayes remained competitive throughout, falling 6-1, 6-4, while Barreto dropped her opening set 6-0 before battling in the second, ultimately falling in a close tiebreak.
The Marauders travel to Shippensburg University to face the Raiders on April 22nd.
