David Wells is entering his third season as an assistant under Coach Mary Fleig. He came to Millersville from Metropolitan State College of Denver in 2011-12.
Wells worked primarily with the post players and saw Aurielle Mosley earn All-PSAC East First Team and back-to-back seasons as well as the PSAC East Athlete of the Year award in 2012-13.
Wells is a native of Colorado, growing up in Lakewood and graduating from Green Mountain High School. After high school, Wells attended the University of Northern Colorado to compete in track and field. After a career ending injury, he left Northern Colorado and returned to Denver where he began coaching at Golden High School as a head track coach, assistant football coach and assistant basketball coach.
Wells also served as a club coach for the Boulder Rockies--one of the top girls' basketball club programs in Colorado. He also worked with some of the state’s best athletes and coached a national champion for track and field. Many other athletes have gone on to play at the collegiate level.
Wells was a practice player for the Metro State women’s basketball team in the 2009-10 season. He helped the team finished the 2010-11 season 30-3, No. 5 in Division II and with an Elite Eight appearance. He graduated from Metro State in August, 2011 with a bachelor's degree in exercise science.
His responsibilities for Millersville are post player development, scouting, assisting in recruitment, film exchange, and marketing. Wells resides in Lancaster.
