KUTZTOWN, Pa. --- Despite a competitive showing, the Millersville University women's lacrosse team dropped a 13-6 decision to No. 15-ranked Kutztown Saturday afternoon. A stagnant offensive game and a season-high in turnovers proved to be the undoing for the Marauders against the nationally-ranked Golden Bears.
Millersville (3-4, 1-3 PSAC East) found success in the center circle, winning the draw control battle 11-10 over the Golden Bears. However, the Marauders struggled to convert those possessions into scoring opportunities. Millersville was plagued by 26 turnovers, many of which were forced by a relentless Kutztown ride that limited the Marauders to an 11-for-16 success rate on clears.
The Golden Bears (6-3, 2-2 PSAC East) utilized their transition game to outshoot the Marauders 31-15 overall. While Millersville's defense remained active, collecting 19 ground balls and causing 6 turnovers, the volume of Kutztown's offensive possessions allowed them to pull away for good during a decisive second-quarter surge.
