BLOOMSBURG, Pa. --- What started as an 8-3 runaway lead for the Huskies turned into a down-to-the-wire contest in a loss to Bloomsburg on Wednesday afternoon for Millersville women's lacrosse. While the Huskies would only go on to score seven for the remainder of the game, the sizable lead they started with proved to be too much for a Millersville comeback.
The Huskies really poured it on towards the end of the opening stanza, netting three of their eight first-quarter goals within the last two minutes of play. What was only a two-goal advantage for the Huskies at 5-3 quickly turned into a five-goal lead, too much for the Marauders to overcome.
The second quarter was one of two in which the Marauders outscored the Huskies. In the second, courtesy of two goals from Carmen DeCaro and one from Emma Beach, two Millersville freshmen. The third quarter was the other quarter in which the Marauders outscored their opponent, but it was just by one goal and not enough to impact the large lead that the Huskies had.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Leading the way with points for the Marauders were Addison Geary and Shannon Meder, both with five points and accounting for over half of the offense for the Marauders.
- Carmen DeCaro and Emma Beach both had two goals in the contest, and Brianna Gora and Avery Weaber accounted for one goal each.
- Mary Moraca led the team in draw controls with eight, and Katlyn Krebs and Addison Geary followed with five of their own.
