Ranieli shines in a career day to lift the Marauders over the Mounties

MANSFIELD, Pa. --- Millersville women's basketball (6-7, 2-5 PSAC) kept it close against Mansfield (2-12, 0-5 PSAC) before a huge third quarter and a career high 32 points from Daniella Ranieli boosted them over the Mounties Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT STARTED:
The slow road starts have been a huge issue for the Marauders this season, but despite coming out slow again and falling behind on a Mansfield 7-0 run to open the game, the Marauders were able to battle back and keep it close. Morgan Mahoney was the first Marauder to break through, with a layup to break the Mansfield run.
A sloppy start for the Marauders was the story of the first quarter, resulting in them falling behind Mansfield by a score of 17-12. The Marauders' offense started to rumble in the second quarter, quickly approaching a tie game going into the half. Millersville still trailed by one at halftime, 31-30. Daniella Ranieli accounted for 14 of the Marauders' 30 points at halftime, going 3 for 3 from three and shooting 4 of 5 from the field with one made free throw.
The Marauders erupted offensively in the third quarter for 22 points with a very efficient 7 of 15 from the field and perfection from beyond the arc to lead Mansfield by nine going into the fourth quarter.
Despite the Mounties' best efforts to erase the nine-point lead, eventually getting it down to just a three-point lead, strong team defense and two clutch free throws from Ranieli would put the game on ice and give the Marauders the edge in this PSAC East showdown.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
The Marauders next game will tip off at 6 p.m. Tuesday night at PSAC rival Shippensburg.
