WILMINGTON, Del. --- The Millersville women's basketball team (3-3, PSAC 0-1) dominated the winless Wilmington University Wildcats (0-10, 0-3 CACC) in an all-around fashion down in Wilmington Friday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Marauders, who were going into this game on a two-game losing streak after a close loss to PSAC foe Clarion, bounced back in a major way with a nearly 30-point victory over the Wildcats. It was close through one quarter of play, with the Marauders leading by one going into the second, but an explosive 28-point second quarter would lead the Marauders to outscore the Wildcats 64-37 in the final three quarters.
As highlighted in the pregame story, the freshman matchup between Daniella Ranieli and Reynah Rattliff was an exciting battle, with Ranieli emerging victorious. Ranieli had the best game of her young career as a Marauder, going for 20 points, shooting 4-6 from behind the arc with three assists, three rebounds, and one steal. Rattliff was held to just 10 points with five turnovers on the day.
The Marauders' offense came from everyone on the floor tonight, as Carley Berk shot an efficient 75.0% from three-point range and set a career best with 11 points as a Marauder. The young core of Coach Mowen is really starting to work together to pick up victories when needed and is starting to take shape for this roster, which welcomed 11 underclassmen to start the year. Right below Berk was Morgan Mahoney, one of the few seniors on the team, who contributed nine points, two blocks, and two steals.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Ranieli led the way for the Marauders with a career-best 20 points coming from an efficient 66.7% from three and 58.3% from the field.
- Carley Berk was just behind her with her first double-digit scoring night as a Marauder with 11 points.
- The Marauders, as a defensive unit, forced 18 turnovers, 15 of them coming from steals.
- The Black and Gold held their ground on the glass tonight, something they have been working on improving, by out-rebounding the Wildcats 52-44, with 19 of them coming on the offensive glass.
- Obviously, a huge "get right" game from your team today. It seems like all the potential is there for you guys, what was going well for you guys today outside of some of those things we talked about previously like making free throws and out rebounding them by nearly 10 boards?
- "Today I thought we stepped up our defense a little bit better. We have defensive goals and I think in order to be successful in our conference we have got to focus more on defensive stops and then our offense will come. I thought we did a pretty decent job today in controlling and predicting what they did by how we played defensively. Then yes of course we rebounded better today and shot the ball much better including from the FT Line."
- One of the toughest jobs on the court is handling the rock, can you speak on your PG's ability early in the season to stay mistake free and make good decisions with the ball as the games progress?
- "I think overall our point guards have come in a done a good job of getting used to the pace at which I like to play but also in learning our system. I'm extremely tough in our PGs about ball control and getting their teammates In successful scoring situations, running our offense, and just be an extension of me on the floor. That job doesn't come easy but they have all done a tremendous job at learning. Yes we might have some battles in the future and their teammates will be there to pick them up but we at least have the ship rolling in the right direction."
